Echo

Co371 Art Space presents “Echo”

Works by Aner Sebastian, Michael Pastorizo and Ombok Villamor

Echo celebrates the romance of the world, and the collective works of the artists explore the idea that the basic human drive to enhance the material world is fundamentally innate, and at its core, motivated by deeper impulses to understand its meaning and to experience a universal, elemental or essential reality. Each artist employs a highly detailed visual language drawn from a wide and continually evolving range of their influences; with the respective pieces echoing their individual and unique artistic views.

Aner Sebastian’s process is very much formed by the interaction of artist and canvas, in a back and forth process involving a combination of discernment and intention. His process is generally not oriented to a specific end-point, but emerges through an openness to imaginative possibilities and challenges that emerge through the process of painting itself. The artist has full control, but the paintings emerge out of a more supra-subjective field.

Michael Pastorizo strives to capture the primitive beauty within familiar forms, to interpret their underlying architecture and their place in time, and construct a bridge between those simple icons and complex ideas. Inspired by the balance that is ingrained within the chaos of nature, the artist creates illustrative forms which are at once constant and dynamic, organic and industrial, ornate yet tranquil.

Ombok Villamor’s work as a whole is characterized by bold colors, organic shapes and figures that appear to be in active discourse.  He finds ideas generated from his imagination, sometimes they come to me in a restful or meditative state when his mind is relaxed and pensive.
