Vida

371 Art Space for ManilArt 2020 | “Vida”

Raul Isidro, Aner Sebastian, Ombok Villamor, Ram Mallari, Michael Pastorizo, Milmar Onal, Ronnie Lim, Jo Balbarona, Toym Imao

The works for “Vida” are inspired by the natural world – in all its beauty and hostility, its paradoxes and contrasts. Visual artists Raul Isidro, Aner Sebastian, Ombok Villamor, Ram Mallari, Michael Pastorizo, Milmar Onal, Ronnie Lim, and Jo Balbarona have depended on the wonders of nature to supply many of the patterns and designs present in their works; as each artist believes that colors, shapes and depths have their own rhythm, weight and importance in art.

Rather than re-creating a landscape on canvas, each of the artist aims to express nature’s true essence through their distinct and individual abstract styles. The overlap of elements complements each artist’s expression and deepens the cohesion within the exhibit. Ultimately, each piece captures some fragment of nature -- as it depicts its beauty and the threat imposed on it.

The world’s current ecological state has been severely compromised, and humanity’s neglect affects every inch of the planet. Raul Isidro, Aner Sebastian, Ombok Villamor, Ram Mallari, Michael Pastorizo, Milmar Onal, Ronnie Lim, and Jo Balbarona feel strongly that each of us must use the tools at our disposal to preserve and restore the natural world. As artists, they employ visual language to address these issues with the goal of awakening interest and inspiring the audience to action.

“Vida” will be on view at Booth C2 of ManilArt 2020, located at the 3rd Level of SMX Convention Center, SM Aura, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig from December 9 – 13, 2020. 371 Art Space is located at Ground Floor, 371 P. Guevarra St. corner Montessori Lane, Brgy. Addition Hills, San Juan. For inquiries, contact 371 Art Space at (+63) 2 8 727 8182 or email info@galeriejoaquin.com.
